Ospreys appoint new radio partner

The Ospreys are proud to announce 96.4FM The Wave and sister station Swansea Sound as the official radio partners for the forthcoming season.

The new partnership will see the stations assist in raising awareness of Ospreys fixtures throughout the community as well as broadcasting interviews and features. There will also be a special focus on enhancing the matchday experience, with the two organisations working together to ensure supporters visiting the Liberty Stadium have a memorable time – on and off the pitch!

Andrew Hore, Chief Operations Officer at the Ospreys said:

“We are delighted to be teaming up with The Wave and Swansea Sound, two radio stations that have such an emphasis on the local community and a desire to promote the strengths of this region. Support from our media partners, especially those in Ospreylia, is vital and these stations have such strong listener numbers this partnership between the Ospreys and the most popular stations in the region makes perfect sense.

“With record season memberships ahead of the new season it is important that we reach as many of them day in, day out, as possible, and the listener numbers that The Wave and Swansea Sound enjoy will allow us to communicate with our fans better than ever. We look forward to a strong and fruitful relationship, and to the input and contribution that the two stations will be making to our matchday experience, helping to make it a better day out for all the family than ever before.”

The stations have a huge following across South West Wales with the latest figures showing a massive 180,000 people listening EVERY week. Moving forward The Ospreys will play a big part in the programming of the stations and will use them to highlight the success that they hope to enjoy in 2012 -2013.*

Station Director Helen Bowden said:

“This is really exciting news for us. At a time when many radio stations are turning their backs on localness and regionalising their output, we are playing an even bigger part in local sport. I wanted to help give The Ospreys an even bigger profile and show support for the huge amount of talent that we hold here in Ospreylia. Welsh Rugby is doing so well and supporting the local team and current RaboDirect PRO12 champions is vital from us as the local radio stations.”
