The Ospreys confirmed today that they had signed South African back rower, Marco de Witt from the Suzuki Griquas on short term contract, as injury cover for Jac Morgan.
Standing at 6ft 4in, de Witt (23) was raised in Cape Town and played a majority of his rugby for the Suzuki Griquas. The back rower was a key member of their historic Carling Currie Cup winning side and has also previously captained the team.
Ospreys supporters can look forward to watching a tenacious ball carrier that is a nuisance at opposition breakdowns.
Speaking on the contract, Marco de Witt, said: "I'm really excited to test myself in a new environment, the Ospreys have a strong reputation and I'm looking forward to cracking on and helping the team however I can.
I'm grateful for this opportunity, the boys have already made me feel welcome and I can already tell there is a great setup."
Head coach, Mark Jones, said: "We’re delighted to have Marco at the Ospreys, he’s a young player who we feel can improve a lot in our environment.
“He will bring a different dynamic to our current back row options, who have been putting in some quality performances in recent weeks for the team.
"With Jac out injured, it was important to secure someone as cover, and we were extremely happy that someone of his ability was available at this time of the season."
