NPTC romp to Ospreylian derby win

Bridgend College travelled to Llandarcy Academy of Sport on Wednesday afternoon to face their fellow college from the Ospreys region, Neath Port Talbot.


Both sides were looking for their first wins of the season.

NPTC were first on the scoreboard with centre Tiaan Wheeler sliding over the line in the third minute, but the conversion was missed.

Winger Conan Doyle went over for the hosts second of the afternoon, and the tries came thick and fast, with prop Rhys Henry powering over just shy of the quarter of an hour mark.

Scrum half Iwan Temlett was next across the line with Tiaan Wheeler adding the extras giving the hosts a 22-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Four minutes later came NPTC's 5th try from hooker Garin Lloyd with Wheeler kicking a successful conversion.

Just over 30 minutes played and scrum half Iwan Temlett went over for his second of the afternoon, and just three minutes later Ioan Jones surged over for NPTC's seventh try.

The hosts weren't about to ease off, sneaking in another try just before half time from replacement Alex Morris, Wheeler kicking the conversion.

It wasn't long before NPTC added to their first half try tally. Winger Kyle Jones flying in for a try.

Their tenth try came in the 48th minute by flanker Owen Morris, giving the hosts an outstanding 62-0 lead!

The scores remained the same for the rest of the game with the hosts denying Bridgend any score.

Bridgend College next host Whitchurch High School at the Brewery Field next Wednesday 2:30pm K.O, whilst Neath Port Talbot College travel to Coleg Llandrillo.
