Llandarcy hosts Ospreys Cup day

The Ospreys will welcome youngsters from all over the region to Llandarcy Academy of Sport for the annual finals day on Sunday.

The Ospreys Cup is a competition that involves all the local clubs from all around Ospreylia at U15 and U16 level. There are three tiers in the competition so we can provide all standards of teams with competitive matches and the chance to win a trophy.

Six teams have worked their way through the rounds to take part in this special day which they will remember for the rest of their lives.

Three finals will take place in the U15’s section with Tonmawr and Mumbles kicking off the day at 11am in the Shield Final.

Tonmawr brushed past Bridgend side, Tondu, when they secured their clash against Mumbles, who didn’t concede a point as they beat Nantyffylon on the way to the final.

The Plate Final will follow shortly after at 1pm as Glynneath battle it out with Pontarddulais in what should be an exciting match.

Glynneath racked up 51 points as they swept aside Abercrave but will have to defeat a Pontarddulais outfit, who overcame a strong Bridgend Sports side , if they are to win the Plate.

Finally, Bonymaen will lock horns with Pencoed in the Cup final which will kick off at 3pm and conclude what will be a brilliant day for rugby in the region.

Bonymaen booked their place in the final after edging a tight encounter against Bridgend Athletic where their cup final opponents, Pencoed, managed to squeeze past Ystradgynlais by 5 points.

The winners of each final will be awarded their trophies by some of our Ospreys players.

To attend, adults will have to pay £2 but under 16’s can get in for free.
