An alternative form of the national game, 'Atomic Touch', is making waves in Neath Port Talbot since its launch in various secondary schools within the local authority earlier this year.
Atomic Touch is a fast paced, mixed gender multi-directional sport that enables all school children to take part in active and purposeful activity that aims to improve their physical literacy and helps increase sporting participation throughout Wales. In Neath Port Talbot several lunch-time clubs have been set-up with participation numbers already over 1000.
A Year 7/8 Atomic Touch Secondary School Festival will take place at Llandarcy Academy of Sport on Thursday 16th May between 12:30 - 2:30pm in association with Neath Port Talbot Council, Physical Activity and Sports Service (PASS), 5x60, WRU and the Ospreys.
Teams will consist of five players with multiple substitutions and a minimum of 2 girls per team.
There will be in excess of 200 children involved in the day and several teams will then advance to represent the region at the National Atomic Touch Festival in Leckwith Stadium Cardiff on Sunday 7th July.
