Late rally sees U20's home

On a very cold evening at Llandarcy the Ospreys and Scarlets Under 20's warmed their supporters with a hard fought encounter with the Ospreys edging victory with two converted tries in the final ten minutes of the game.

The first clash at this age-grade level since the WRU ended the U20 Championship two years ago following the relaunch of the Ospreys team at the start of the 2011, with the Scarlets following suit this year, it was a keenly contested affair.

The hosts took the lead with a David Griggs try converted by Corey Butler, who then extended the lead with a penalty before the Scarlets responded with a James Russell penalty and a try from scrum half Scott Maynard converted by Russell. However, another Butler penalty ensured the Ospreys took a 13 - 10 lead into half time.

In the second half the Scarlets took the lead with penalties from Russell and Maynard to give them a 16-13 lead going into the final quarter, but it was the Ospreys who finished the stronger with tries from  flanker Griggs  his second of the game and fellow flanker Ben Scott Thomas  both converted by Lloyd Thomas to give the home team  a 27 -16 victory.
