Late penalty beats Eyasses

The Ospreys U16's lost for only the second time this season when they went down narrowly in a thriller against Blues North at Llantwit Fadre RFC on Wednesday evening.

Having trailed 20-3 at the interval, the Eyasses fought back strongly to take the lead with minutes to go only for Blues North to claim a 26-24 win through a last minute penalty.

Despite Josh White opening the score for the Young Ospreys with an early penalty, it was Blues North who controlled the scoreboard in the first period, tries from Matthew Jeczalik and Jay Harries and 10 points from the boot of Jordan Jones sending the hosts in at the break with a comfortable lead.

Tries by Lewis Cox and Liam Popham, both converted by Josh White, either side of another Jordan Jones penalty saw the Eyasses move to within striking distance, before a late Adam Rowlands try, converted by White with just two minutes to go, saw the them regain the lead for the first time since the opening minutes.

However, there was a late sting in the tail, Jordan Jones’ penalty at the death ensuring a home win.
