Jason Larkman who came on board as a conditioning coach with the Young Osprey age grade teams last season has already set his sights on a fitter group of players for next season.
Over sixty players from this years Dewar Shield teams have been fitness tested by Larkman and are now receiving skills sessions under the guidance of three time Reebok Regional winner Head Coach Alex Evans. In April a series of trials will be held to identify a smaller training group who Larkman will put through a strenuous summer training programme in preparation for next seasons under 16 schedule. Larkman has also organised conditioning sessions for this seasons players who are not involved with national squads. On a Monday night at Llandarcy Academy of Sport the players are being reminded of the hard work that is required to stay at the top of the tree with a circuit training session. While on Tuesday he is at Pencoed College and Wednesday at Neath Sports Centre teaching weight lifting. The players will all be encouraged to take a break from serious conditioning during May before coming back for pre season training between June and August.
