Lee Byrne looks as though he has played his last game for the Ospreys after suffering a knee injury in the defeat to Munster at the Liberty Stadium 10 days ago.
The full-back was forced off during the first half of the match, and Head Physio Chris Towers says that the problem means he us unlikely to feature again this season, regardless of the Ospreys possible progress to the play-offs.
His impending move to T14 club Clermont Auvergne means that the Munster defeat is likely to be his final outing for his home region.
Towers confirmed:
“We are currently seeking specialist advise for a right knee problem and a decision will be made in the next couple of days regarding management and prognosis.
“It looks unlikely that he will be available to take any further part for the Ospreys this season, even if we make the play-offs, but we remain positive that this will not impact on his availability for the Rugby World Cup.”
