Supporters will get their first look at the brand new Ospreys jersey for the 2014/15 season when it is publicly unveiled at a special Liberty Stadium event four weeks today.
Always an eagerly awaited date in the summer calendar, anticipation is growing to unprecedented levels ahead of this year’s kit reveal on Friday 8th August with supporters excited to see the first ever BLK produced playing jersey, training kit and leisure wear range.
The launch event will see the stadium hosting a family fun day with the Ospreys inflatables and the Wave broadcasting live, with all Kids Plus members who have signed up for the coming season being personally presented with their 2014/15 jersey by a member of the Ospreys squad.
The wraps will come off the jersey instore at the Ospreys Club Shop and at a special catwalk event open to supporters on a first come, first served basis in one of the stadium’s hospitality suites.
The new look BLK Ospreys jersey will, for the first time, feature the logo of new commercial partners BT Sport across the chest of the home jersey, with OSTC FX on the away shirt.
Yarnie Guthrie, Commercial Manager at the Ospreys, said everybody was looking forward to what promises to be an eventful and exciting day at the Liberty Stadium.
“There is always a real sense of excitement and anticipation at this time of year at any rugby club, but it is particularly the case here at the Ospreys this summer” said Guthrie.
“With BLK on board and almost ready to launch their first Ospreys jersey everybody wants to see what they have produced. We have new commercial partners on board to help drive the business forward, we have a young and exciting squad packed with local talent, and the new competition structures for 2014/15 in the PRO12 and Europe mean that every game, every minute of the season really matters.
“Kit launch day is always a huge success and we’ve been fortunate to see thousands of supporters turning out to see their first glimpse of the new jersey in recent seasons. With so much going on at the Liberty this time, including a fantastic experience for Kids Plus members to collect their jersey from their heroes, and the full first team squad present throughout the event to meet supporters and look forward to the coming season, it’s going to be a great occasion.”
Since 2006 the Ospreys jersey has become a sales phenomenon, proving to be the second biggest selling club or regional rugby jersey in UK and Ireland in every season.
An independent report compiled last year year by Running Rugby, a respected industry website aimed at ‘decision makers in league and union’ illustrated how the Ospreys continue to outsell their rivals, with sales running at double the number of the other three Welsh regions combined.
