JONATHAN HUMPHREYS DELIVERS HIS 'SCRUMMAGE PHILOSOPHY' TO COMMUNITY COACHES
On Wednesday 14th January 2009, the Ospreys Coach Development Department laid on a coaching seminar held at Dunvant RFC for coaches in the Ospreys Region. Ospreys Assistant Coach, Jonathan Humphreys delivered a presentation followed by a practical demonstration on scrummage play. Dunvant RFC 1st XV pack were made available to assist Jonathon to demonstrate many aspects of scrummaging, with particular emphasis on the scrum setup.
This insight into 'the dark art' was illuminating both to the players involved and to the coaches present. The coaches were invited to contribute to the session and many interesting points were raised and answered.
The practical session was followed by a very lively Question and Answer session both on scrimmaging and other aspects of the game.
Tony Thomas, Ospreys Coach Development Officer said:
"The event was another great success and we were delighted with the feedback from those coaches present. The only disappointing aspect of the evening was the small number of coaches who took the opportunity to attend"
"We are very grateful to Jonathon for being so willingly giving of his time and expertise. We would also like to thank Dunvant Rugby Club for once again hosting the event".
The Scrummage Clinic with Jonathon Humphreys will be repeated at Pyle RFC on Wednesday 11th of February at 7 p.m. so if you missed this week's event you have another opportunity next month.
