Jersey launch goes public for 2011/12

Ospreys fans will get their first sight of the 2011/12 jersey when it is unveiled to the public at a special event at the Quadrant Shopping Centre in Swansea at the end of the month.

The wraps will come off the new-look jersey on Saturday 30th July, when members of the senior playing squad will take to the stage to show the off the shirt, along with the full range of 2011/12 leisure and training wear, in an event which is sure to go down a storm with fans of the region eager to get a glimpse of the iconic shirt.

It will be the first time in the region’s history that they have taken the annual jersey launch to the public, with previous years seeing the Welsh media joining Ospreys sponsors for a behind closed doors photo shoot.

Ospreys Chief Operations Officer, Andrew Hore, said:

“We wanted to do it differently this year and take the jersey out into the community for our supporters to be the ones who get the first sighting of the 2011/12 version. They are our lifeblood, they are what the Ospreys are all about, and we want every kid in Ospreylia to aspire to wearing the black jersey, so it is only fitting that the community plays a part in the launch of the new shirt.”

The ever popular Ospreys jersey has been created by leading rugby kit manufacturer Kooga since the very inception of the region in 2003, and is now one of the biggest sellers in northern hemisphere club and regional rugby. The 2010/11 version, featuring on-trend purple side panels, became the fifth successive Ospreys jersey to sell in excess of 40,000, with demand coming from the length and breadth of the UK and beyond.

The eagerly awaited 2011/12 home jersey will go on sale the same day, with supporters able to purchase theirs either at the Quadrant or the Ospreys Superstore following the launch event, which gets underway at 12.45pm. The away jersey, which will also be unveiled on 30th July, will then be available to purchase in August.
