The countdown is well and truly underway for one of the most eagerly awaited events of the summer, the launch of the Ospreys 2012/13 jersey at Swansea's National Waterfront Museum this Friday.
After a fantastic family day-out at the first ever Ospreys Open Day at Llandarcy recently the kit launch offers supporters another chance to meet their heroes in a relaxed and fun environment, with the highlight being the public unveiling of the new jersey – with those present being the first to see the 2012/13 home shirt as it goes on display for the first time.
As well as the launch of the new kit there’ll be plenty going on to keep everyone entertained, with the fun and games getting underway at 11am.
In addition to rugby themes inflatables, there’ll be coaching sessions from the Ospreys Community Rugby team who will be delivering activities from the WRU’s rugby fundamentals programme aimed at building the basic skills such as balance, coordination and agility. Special appearances from Ozzy the Osprey and The Wave/Swansea sound’s Dylan the Dog will also keep fans young and old entertained before the headline event, when the wraps finally come off this year’s jersey.
The entire playing squad will also be in attendance to meet supporters, sign autographs and pose for pictures, with some of them taking part in a catwalk presentation of not only the new shirt but also to show off the full range of 2012/13 Ospreys leisurewear.
Kevin Johns, the much loved breakfast show presenter for official radio station Swansea Sound will act as MC for the event, which hundreds of Ospreys fans expected to flock to Swansea Marina to get their first glimpse of the jersey.
Ospreys Managing Director, Roger Blyth, said:
“Excitement levels are building with the build up to the new season well underway, and the jersey launch is a big day for all Ospreylians. Last year we took the launch event public for the first time and had a fantastic response, and we expect the same again this year.
“It’s going to be a great family day out, bringing the team and the local community together, and we look forward to seeing our fans at the Waterfront Museum on Friday, ahead of welcoming them to the Liberty Stadium for our first home game, against Bath, the following day.”
The 2012/13 home and away jerseys will go on sale on Friday and will be available to purchase at the National Waterfront Museum on the day, as well as from the Ospreys Club Shop at the Liberty Stadium.
