Injury Update after Scarlets game

Ospreys Physio Chris Towers has provided the coaching team with positive news on the condition of Alun-Wyn Jones and James Hook, who both left the field with shoulder injuries during the Boxing Day win over the Scarlets.

After allowing the injuries to settle down over the last 48 hours, Towers provided the following update:

“Alun-Wyn and James both suffered an impact to their left shoulder during Saturday’s game. In the case of Alun-Wyn, I’m satisfied that it’s a low severity issue. He is responding well to treatment this week and we will review his prospects for availability this weekend on Thursday.

“With James, his condition is being assessed and reviewed daily and he is improving. We hope to be able to confirm a date for him to return to playing by the end of the week.”

There was some bad news for Craig Mitchell, another to see his involvement in the Boxing Day derby cut short, with Towers confirming that a suspected fractured rib means that he is likely to sit out the next four or five weeks to allow it time to heal.
