Ospreys Medical Performance Manager, Chris Towers, has issued an update on the following players:
Nicky Smith
“Nicky suffered a significant pectoral tear playing for Wales against New Zealand on Saturday. He’s had scans and been reviewed by specialists and, following discussions, the decision is that the best course of treatment is for him to undergo surgery to repair the damage.
“He is looking at up to four months recovery post operation.”
Duncan Jones
“Duncan left the field during the first half of last Friday’s game against Ulster with what has been confirmed as medial ligament damage to the knee.
“The injury doesn’t require surgery but he could be out for up to six weeks.”
Jeff Hassler
“Jeff sustained a significant knee ligament injury during Canada’s game against Romania at the weekend.
“His injury is still being assessed with a view to deciding the best course of management, and we are consulting with specialists over the next week after which a decision will be made on the best course of treatment.”
Ryan Bevington
“Ryan has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation from surgery on a long-standing groin injury. Having consulted with specialists again, the decision has been made that he requires further surgery that will take place later this week.
“If it goes well then he will need another couple of months following surgery before he will be able to resume playing.”
