The Ospreys confirmed today that Huw Sutton had signed a new deal with the club, continuing his career with the West Wales based club.
Sutton, 26, is a product of the Ospreys development pathway and arrived through the Swansea University programme. The lock has become a matchday squad regular since making his debut in 2022 and has made 45 appearances for the club since then.
A second row by trade that can also play in the back row, Sutton offers reliability at set piece time and a relentless work rate in the loose.
Speaking on his new deal, Sutton said: “It’s great to be continuing my career with the Ospreys. I came through a different route to a lot of the boys after arriving through the University, but I’ve always felt a part of this group right from the first training session.
“The club have put a lot of faith in me since I got here so I’m happy to be able to repay that by signing a new deal. There’s a good feeling around the players and coaches at the moment with how the future is looking.
“I’m also looking forward to playing our home games at St Helen’s next year. I’ve got a lot of good memories from playing there for the Uni and for the Whites so it’s a bit of a full circle moment for me.”
Head Coach, Mark Jones, said: “Huw is a highly dependable player for us so retaining him is excellent news for the club. He is one of those players that does a lot of the unseen work and that allows us to play our game how we want to.
“I’ve been really impressed with his development over the past few years and the work he’s been putting in to improve, especially on the defensive side of the ball. He’s picked up a lot of appearances in the recent seasons and that is credit to himself and the coaches that have been working with him since he came into the first team.”
