Hibbard set for surgery

Ospreys Physio Chris Towers has confirmed that Richard Hibbard will undergo surgery to repair knee ligament damage, ruling him out of the end of season Magners League run-in.

The hooker has been troubled with a knee problem since the Leicester Tigers match in January, and having limped out of the Easter weekend win over the Scarlets, Hibbard underwent scans on the injured knee. Following consultation with specialists it has been decided that surgery is the best option.

Chris Towers commented:

"After careful consideration the decision has been taken for Richard Hibbard to have surgery on his right knee to repair the ligament damage, in order to guarantee a good result.

"The decision to go through with this process rules Richard out for the remainder of the 09/10 season. However, he will work hard throughout the summer and should be back to full fitness for next season."
