Gower College Swansea take midweek honours

Gower were the only college team in Ospreylia to record a victory yesterday, with Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot both suffering defeats.

A brilliant team performance saw Gower cross the whitewash on eight occasions, as they defeated Pembroke College 51-5 at St. Helens. James Lewis and Jimmy Wilson touched down early on before Pembroke replied with a try of their own. Gower then rallied to score six more tries through Alex Bidwell and Luke Ford braces with Ryan Jones and Zak Bird getting one each.

Bridgend succumbed to a 55-7 loss against an excellent Coleg Morgannwg team. Josh White came close with two early penalties before Morgannwg ran riot to take a 36-0 lead into half-time. Again, Bridgend started strongly but normal service was resumed when Morgannwg began to score freely. Liam Thomas grabbed a consolation try for Bridgend, before Morgannwg rounded off the scoring with their final try.

Neath Port Talbot’s winning streak came to an end as they suffered their first defeat of the season against Coleg Sir Gar. Normally the ones to dish out the heavy scorelines, Neath Port Talbot conceded eight tries as they lost 51-14. Joe Thomas and Chris Sutton scored the only two tries for the home team at Llandarcy.
