Glasgow Warriors Preview - 01/10/2022

This weekend’s visitors to the Swansea.com Stadium are the Glasgow Warriors, who come into the third round of the BKT United Rugby Championship off the back of a 52-24 victory over Cardiff Rugby, scoring eight tries in the process.

However, the Warriors did suffer a 33-11 loss out in Benetton in the opening round of the Championship but were boosted by the return of several internationals into the starting line-up last weekend.

Here are a few key players to look out for:

Matt Fagerson

24-year-old back rower Fagerson is an explosive ball carrier and has shown his threat already this season, scoring in both matches. The Scotland international is now one of the more experienced assets at Scotstoun, having made 80 appearances for the club. He leads by example in the way he plays the game, and will do so again this weekend.

Jack Dempsey

A fellow back rower, Dempsey has been impressive in a Warriors shirt so far this season. The Australian international leads the league in successful carries and offloads which shows his prowess with the ball in hand. The 28-year-old rounded off a brilliant performance last weekend by handing off James Botham before an offload to set up a try for Thomas Gordon. A signing that came in last season who looks like he will push on to new heights this year.

Kyle Steyn

Winger Steyn was announced as club captain at the start of the 2022/23 season by head coach Franco Smith. The speedster has been an ever present force in the Warriors side since joining in 2019. His form at Glasgow earnt him a call up to the Scotland squad in 2021 where he scored four tries on his debut against Tonga. He’s a lethal finisher who can sniff out half a chance.
