The Ospreys U18's came out on top in Sunday's friendly match against touring side Enniscorthy RFC at Corus RFC.
The Irish side, from County Wexford, last season’s Leinster Premier League Champions and All-Ireland runners up, provided a stern challenge for the Eyasses, who dug in to secure a 30-10 win thanks to tries from Ashleigh Evans, Ryan Evans, Jethro Byatt and Evan Yardley, with Sam Davies kicking two conversions and a penalty, and Owen James adding a penalty.
U18 coach Ioan Cunningham said:
“It was a good test for us, providing an opportunity for the squad to experience playing against a quality side that they wouldn’t normally find themselves coming up against, offering a different challenge and unfamiliar playing style. They were abrasive and keen to run the ball, and the windy conditions made it tough.
“We also used the opportunity to give game time to some of the boys in the squad who haven’t featured much yet this season, allowing us to assess some players ahead of games coming up.
“We’d like to hope that this fixture can become a regular thing over the next few years and I’d like to thank Enniscorthy for agreeing to the match, and also, Corus RFC for allowing us to use their facilities.”
