The Ospreys have received confirmation that scrum-half Jamie Nutbrown faces a possible eight week lay-off after the player suffered an injury to the midtarsal joint of his left foot during last Friday's 21-18 win over Glasgow.
The 27 year-old former Waikato Chiefs, Canterbury Crusaders and New Zealand A international arrived in the UK last week in time to make his debut as a second half replacement against the Cardiff Blues at the Liberty Stadium before making his first start in the victory at Firhill. Ospreys Physio Chris Towers explained: "Jamie has suffered an injury to the midtarsal joint of his left foot, damaging ligaments as well as sustaining a compression facture to one of the small tarsal bones of his foot. The injury occurred in a tackle where his left foot was trapped, and as he fell the force was therefore transmitted through his forefoot resulting in the injury. He has been reviewed by a specialist, who unfortunately confirmed that Jamie will need to spend the next four weeks in plaster, followed by a period of strengthening and rehabilitation. All in all we could be looking at an eight week lay-off."
