Family friendly season ticket packages offer

The Ospreys today confirmed details of the 2011/12 season-ticket packages, which include a number of exciting initiatives designed to make supporting the Ospreys better value for money than ever before.

For the first time ever, the Ospreys have introduced a new Loyalty Discount for existing season-ticket holders who renew early, which effectively gives them one extra free game in their package, while all supporters who purchase a season-ticket prior to Tuesday 31st May will get a complimentary Ospreys 2010 replica jersey – either home, away, premier, third, training, ladies, replica hoods, junior or infant kits, subject to availability and while stocks last, from the Ospreys Superstore only.

With everyone at the Ospreys agreed on the importance of encouraging the next generation of fans to get the Liberty Stadium habit, the family friendly packages announced today will allow kids to watch for free at every home game!

With up to four free child season-tickets available with a paying adult in the Family Stand, it means that a family of five can watch all 17 home games throughout the season for no more than £11 a game – so there really is no reason why the whole family can’t follow the Ospreys in 2011/12.

The fantastic value for money offers don’t end there though, as despite the VAT rise earlier this year, Ospreys bosses have agreed to a prize freeze, keeping standard season-ticket costs at the 2010/11 level, with the Ospreys covering the increase – offering a direct saving to every supporter, whatever category they buy. Category C season-tickets are priced at under £11 a game at £185 – or as low as £9 a match for existing season-ticket holders who renew before the 11th June and take advantage of the new Loyalty Discount – an incredible saving of 54 per cent on matchday ticket prices.

And that’s not all - the Introduce-A-Friend initiative is back, allowing any existing season ticket holder to get a huge discount on their renewal – from 25 per cent to 100 per cent depending on whether they introduce two, three or four friends who didn’t have a season-ticket in 2010/11, meaning that they can potentially enjoy top flight rugby next season without paying a single penny, the best value you could possibly get! (Free season-ticket, child or adult, do not qualify for the complimentary replica jersey).

Ospreys Managing Director, Roger Blyth, said

“The Ospreys season-ticket prices for 2011/12 offer incredible value for money, the packages unveiled today are probably the best ever. When setting the prices we have had to consider a number of factors, including ongoing economic concerns that are hitting our supporters, and the obvious pressures that all businesses are under in the current climate.

“With that in mind, we feel that we have delivered a price range that will encourage supporters to invest in a season-ticket for 2011/12, and in particular, will make parents sit up and take notice of exactly how cheap it is to bring the family to the rugby. A Family Stand ticket, when bought by an existing season-ticket holder before the loyalty deadline works out at just £9 a game - as does a Category C adult ticket – 54 per cent savings on matchday admission prices. Where else could you take four children out for an evening’s entertainment and have change from £10?

“Quite often we get people saying ‘I would buy a season-ticket but I don’t get to every game so it’s not economical’. The reality of the situation is that at these prices, they only need to get to half the games to break even – every other match they get to after that is free. It’s incredible value for money.

“The VAT rise should have seen a rise in the price of a season-ticket for next season, but we felt that it was prudent to absorb those costs as a business, to send out a signal to supporters about how much we value your support. This could potentially cost the Ospreys a five figure sum, and we want fans to recognise this, and the value for money packages, and back the Ospreys next season.”

Existing season-ticket holders will receive their renewal form through the post next week, and will get a £10 Loyalty Discount on top of the Earlybird Discount if they renew before Saturday 11th June, with their existing seats being reserved until a month later on Monday 11th July, after which point they will go on general sale.

Supporters who do not currently have a season-ticket will be able to purchase one from next week, and they will qualify for the Earlybird Discount, up until Thursday 11th August.

Additional benefits to season-ticket holders include free entry to all age-grade fixtures staged within Ospreylia and priority access to tickets for away matches and any knock-out games in the Magners League or Heineken Cup. They also receive a 10 per cent discount on all Ospreys merchandise purchased at the Ospreys Superstore and 10 per cent discount on additional tickets purchased for non-knock-out fixtures at the Liberty Stadium. All season-ticket holders will receive free membership of the Ospreys Supporters Club.

Roger Blyth concluded:

“We’ve worked hard to keep costs down, but we need you, the supporters, to back us for next season. Your support is crucial. We remain committed to maintaining our unrivalled record for developing Welsh talent, both for the region and the national squad, and season ticket revenue will make a real contribution towards those objectives.

“Investing in a season-ticket is an enormous statement of intent from a fan, and means you are helping towards our aim of creating sustainable success for the Ospreys. With the cheapest adult season-ticket working out at just £9 a game, and with family season-tickets coming in at a similar price, they still offer considerable savings if you buy one knowing that you may not be able attend every game so I would urge fans to consider buying one. To enjoy an evening out at the rugby at such a fantastic price, the 2011-12 season-ticket makes perfect sense.

“It promises to be an exciting season, with some of the young talent that we’ve seen making the breakthrough this season really having a big impact alongside some of their more experienced team-mates, and we want you here to be a part of it with us.”
