Eyasses end Blues South's winning start

The Ospreys U16's recorded an admirable 25-15 victory over Blues South at Llandarcy last night, ending their opponents unbeaten start to the new WRU Regional Age Grade season.

The Eyasses came out all guns blazing and looked to set the precedent in the match. Both of the centres, Owen Watkin and Stuart Nicholas, got on the score sheet within the first four minutes and Matthew Aubrey slotted both conversions.

After the early setback for the Blues South team, they came back fighting and bagged themselves two tries of their own through wing, James Walsh, and flanker, Cameron James. Luke Fish converted their opening try but failed with his second attempt.

The Eyasses held a narrow lead as half-time loomed but their flying winger, Regan Grace, cemented his place as the Ospreys top try-scorer with an opportunist score. Again, he demonstrated his worth to the team as they went in at the break 19-12 up.

Both teams came out for the second half and looked to attack but both defences held firm. The only points came from the kicking tee as Aubrey notched two penalties and Fish grabbed a three-pointer of his own.

This was a solid performance from the young Ospreys team and they will look to back this up with more prominent displays in forthcoming fixtures.
