The Ospreys U16's lost ground at the top of the WRU Age Grade Championship after going down 24-18 to the Blues South at Taffs Well.
The young Ospreys went in at the break 24-0 behind, but a second half comeback saw them snatch an all important losing bonus point.
Having beaten the South 31-7 at Llandarcy back in September, the Eyasses knew that an away day success in the wind and rain at Taffs Well, would put them in with a wonderful chance of securing a place in the final of this season's competition.
Unfortunately, the game couldn't have started any worse. With the elements in their faces, they struggled to contain the Blues who ran in three tries before the interval through Zak Deere, Ruraigh Smith and Jack Phillips. Gareth Thompson improved his points haul for the season with three conversions and a penalty.
It was all change after the interval with the Ospreys pinning the Blues back in their own 22 for long periods. Rhys Williams, Evan Yardley and Nicky Smith all went over for tries with Ben Thomas adding a penalty late on to make sure of a losing bonus point.
