Euro Commercials get Ospreys moving

One of Wales’ leading commercial vehicle dealerships has teamed up with the Ospreys to assist with the transport of essential rugby equipment.

Euro Commercials, who provide Mercedes Benz sales, service and parts support from four depots along the Welsh stretch of the M4, have provided the region with a new Sprinter 313CDI, which will be used for carrying team kit, rugby and medical equipment to away games across the UK and Europe in the PRO12 and new European Rugby Champions Cup.

The keys for the specially branded Sprinter, which features both the Euro Commercials and Ospreys logos on the sides, were handed over to Dan Biggar and Alun Wyn Jones at the Liberty Stadium by Rebekka Salway and Andrew Copp from Euro Commercials.

Yarnie Guthrie, Commercial Manager at the Ospreys, said:

“We are extremely grateful to Euro Commercials for their support, and for the provision of such a fantastic vehicle that will certainly make away travel that much easier, and more comfortable, for Team Administrator Dai Davies.

“The unseen work that gets carried out behind the scenes, including kit and equipment transportation, can be the difference between success and failure at this level. The assistance of successful local businesses such as Euro Commercials allows us to provide the very best facilities to our support staff, with the obvious performance benefits on the field. We hope that this will become a long and mutually beneficial relationship.”

Established in 1979 by Nick Williams and David Salway, Euro Commercials has grown to employ over 150 staff today.  Recent investment in facilities has seen the opening of a state of the art MOT facility in their Bridgend depot, while the Cardiff and Bridgend service teams are open 24 hours during the week, enabling them to service your van or truck while you sleep. 2014 will also see the opening a brand new van showroom just a stones throw from their head office in Cardiff.

The company has a long-standing rugby link through Gareth Edwards CBE, who is a shareholder in Euro Commercials.

Rebekka Salway, Marketing Manager, Euro Commercials, commented:

“We are very pleased to be support the Ospreys. It was fantastic to meet Dai Davies and some of the players at the Liberty Stadium to see first hand the impact that transportation of equipment has on the team. It’s great to see how happy they are with their new Mercedes Benz Sprinter.”
