The Ospreys confirmed today that Ethan Lewis had joined Cardiff Rugby on a short-term loan.
The hooker previously made 60 appearances for Cardiff, before joining Saracens during the 2020-21 season, initially on loan. Ethan then signed for the Ospreys ahead of the 23/24 season and has made 13 appearances for the club.
With Liam Belcher currently sidelined, Lewis has joined Cardiff until the end of January, providing further depth and competition alongside Daf Hughes and Evan Lloyd.
Head Coach, Mark Jones, said: “Sending Ethan on loan is a testament to our strength in depth at the hooker position.
“This move will provide him with some invaluable playing time and also help to maintain his match fitness in a time where opportunities are going to be limited.”
Corniel van Zyl said: “We are really pleased to bring in a player of Ethan’s quality during what is a busy and important time of the year.
“With the injury to Liam Belcher, it was important that we added some strength at hooker and while we expect him back in a couple of weeks, we needed that extra cover.
“Ethan is obviously a player the club knows well and I know it means a lot to him as well. He has plenty of experience now, does the basics very well and suits the style we play.
“He has settled back in quickly and we are grateful to the Ospreys for allowing this loan.”
