Supporters at Saturday's derby clash between the Ospreys and the Scarlets will get the chance to savour the best in Welsh food and drink at the first ever Ospreys Food Fair.
The biggest crowd of the season so far will be treated to a host of goodies, with locally based companies offering a wide range of Welsh treats to tempt fans of both teams in the Supporters Village ahead of kick-off.
The Food Fair will get underway at 4.00pm, two and half hours ahead of kick, with the food suppliers confirmed for the event including Gower Cottage Brownies, La Crème Patisserie, Swansea Hog Roast, the Waffle Trailer and Welsh Premium Burgers, giving fans a real taste of Wales ahead of the big match.
The first time that the Ospreys have ever hosted a food fair, it will help to make the pre-match experience for the first Welsh derby of the season even more special.
Managing Director, Roger Blyth, said:
“We are always looking at ways to enhance the matchday experience at the Liberty Stadium, and to create an environment where families want to spend time, not only for the game itself but also, as a destination where they can enjoy themselves with like minded supporters and enjoy the build up to the game.
“With Saturday’s match being the first Welsh derby of the season, we thought it presented a great opportunity for us to invite local food and drink producers along to show off their produce, allowing us to celebrate all things Welsh.
“It’s going to be another wonderful Liberty Stadium occasion with a big crowd and a great atmosphere. There will be players in the Village tasting the Welsh fare and really helping fans to enjoy their evening at the rugby.”
Ospreys wing Shane Williams recently returned from the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, and he says that the food fair is a great idea for derby day:
“Having been away from home for two months, what I’ve missed more than anything is some good home made Welsh food so I’m really excited about the Ospreys hosting a food fair at the Scarlets game.
“It’s brilliant for us to be able to promote local producers and traders like this, at the heart of our community. Having tasted some of the food that will be available at the stadium on Saturday, I can say that supporters will have plenty to enjoy ahead of the game.”
