Edinburgh: Ones to Watch

Edinburgh Rugby: Ones to Watch

With the race for the Welsh Shield going down to the wire, we looked at some of Edinburgh’s dangermen.

From one of the in-form wingers in world rugby to the Scotland captain, here is this week’s Ones to Watch.

Duhan Van der Merwe

Van der Merwe’s performances have been a key factor behind Scotland’s resurgence and their recent strong Guinness Six Nations campaign.

The winger received the Guinness Six Nations Try of the Championship for his wonderous solo effort vs England, which typified his tournament. A destructive runner with a taste for the try line, keep your eyes on VdM at all times.

Jamie Ritchie

Speaking of players responsible for Scotland’s rise, it’s hard to look past Jamie Ritchie. Captain for his national team, Ritchie has become integral for club and country. A powerful and abrasive back rower, Ritchie is a threat on both sides of the ball.

Emiliano Boffelli

Boffelli, who can operate at centre, wing or full-back, has been a key member of the Los Pumas setup since making his debut in 2015.

The utility back starred for Argentina in their win over England, picking up 25 points out of the winning 30. Add a monstrous right boot onto his clinical finishing skills and you get a points machine.
