Edinburgh home designated 'Heroes Day'

The Ospreys have designated the RaboDirect PRO12 home game against Edinburgh later this month as 'Heroes Day', where they will pay tribute to the brave men and women who serve in the UK's Armed Forces.

To mark the special occasion on Friday 22nd February, the region has sent out an open invitation to all serving members to join us at the Liberty Stadium for a must-win game, with a free match ticket available to each individual upon production of a valid warrant card at the Ticket Office.

Forces charity Help for Heroes have also been invited along for the evening, and will have a presence in the supporters village pre-match, as well as taking part in a bucket collection to raise much needed funds for their good cause.

There will be a number of additional guests and activities being confirmed over the next two weeks in the build-up to the game.

Ospreys Chief Operations Officer, Andrew Hore, said:

“We are delighted to be able to host Heroes Day at the Liberty Stadium on Friday 22nd February.  Amongst the thousands of soldiers, sailors and RAF personnel proudly serving their country, many in some extremely dangerous conditions, there are a significant number of local men and women who deserve recognition from the community around them. This is an opportunity for all the Ospreys fans to show our troops how proud we are of them, and thank them for the dedication and sacrifice they make on our behalf.

“We hope to be joined by representatives from the different branches of the Armed Forces, and more details will be confirmed in the confirming weeks, but as a gesture of respect to all those currently serving the country forces, we are honoured to be able to offer a free ticket to any current serviceman or woman so that they can join us for the game.

“It also gives us enormous pleasure to be able to welcome Help for Heroes to the game. It is a charity that does vital work across the UK in aiding and assisting our troops, so we are happy to be working alongside them on Heroes Day at the Liberty Stadium to help a fantastic charity to raise both money and awareness for this worthwhile cause.”

Any serviceman or woman looking to make the most of their visit to the Liberty Stadium can also enjoy discounted rates on matchday hospitality at the game, receiving a 15% discount on the different hospitality packages which are available. Help for Heroes raises money to support members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of their country. The charity allocates money raised to fund direct projects, such as the establishment of Personnel Recovery Centres (PRCtrs) across the UK and support other service charities.
