The Young Ospreys went into this fixture with the Blues confident that they could beat the only side to lower their colours this season. However, despite scoring four tries to three the Blues had the match winner in outside half Joe Deacon.
In a scoreline of 25 points to 22 in the Blues favour, it was Deacon's two half way line penalties that was the main difference between the teams. In the last game between the sides the Young Ospreys failed to front up to their opponents and were well beaten. However, on this occassion the forwards led by No 8 Rory Pitman and replacement front row forward Jonathon Vaughan (pictured) showed they could match their opponents physically; this positive performance will certainly instill the belief that the third fixture between the teams (Reebok Final) will see a Young Osprey victory. For the Blues flankers Jake Thomas and Kristian Darcy scored first half tries which scrum half Lloyd Williams added to in the second half. Deacon also kicked two conversions to go with his penalties. For the Young Ospreys Pitman and speedy wing Ryan Bayliss each grabbed a brace; outside half Daniel Biggar converted one. Disappointment for Biggar on the night was having what he claimed a fair try overruled by the intervention of the linesman.
