Justin Tipuric has left his Ospreys colleagues in no doubt that they need to move up through the gears if the want to win the second leg of the Scarlets double-header.
The Ospreys clung on for a two point win at the Liberty Stadium last weekend after a disjointed second half performance where the Scarlets almost over turned an 11-point deficit, and the open side said that the team must do better when the two regions meet again at Parc y Scarlets this coming Saturday.
"It’s a disappointed changing room in there" Tipuric admitted to the media post-match.
"That second half is not what we’re about. We know we can play a lot better and there is plenty to work on for next week. But there’s no people more disappointed than the players themselves.
"We weren't surprised by their scrum, not at all. We have known they have been strong in that area this year. I am a back-rower so thankfully I don’t know what is happening with the way the penalties go sometimes. But that's the way it is and they have had quite a few penalties going their way there for most of the season.
"What went wrong overall? We did not keep hold of the ball. We know we can play some fancy rugby but you must be able to look after the ball and go through phases to do that. We didn’t do that.
"We’ll definitely need an improvement to win down there. We know that better than anyone.
"I don't think we have played worse than that second half all season and it is something we want to put right. We are in a good place but we have to keep pushing each other to get better.”
