Community team focuses on front row development

The Ospreys Coach Development team is turning it's attention to front row matters this month with a special workshop focusing on this specialist area of the game.

Alun Wyn Davies, Ospreys Regional Age Grade and C-Group coach will deliver a coach development workshop on developing the operation of a front row unit, dealing specifically with the development of junior pathway players at U12-U16.

The evening will be an interactive practical forum at Llandarcy Academy of Sport, Wednesday 30th November 2011, 18.30-20.30.

Ospreys Chief Operations Officer, Andrew Hore, commented:

“In recent years this region has become synonymous with developing front row players. The recent Wales squad included four of our front rowers, plus Craig Mitchell who came through the ranks here before leaving in the summer, while Richard Hibbard would also have gone if not for an unfortunate injury suffered in August.

“In addition, when you look at recent Wales age-grade squads and see that we are supplying youngsters like Joe Rees and Daniel Suter, you can see that we are continuing to produce front row players.

“We want to continue this production line, and this workshop organised by the development team will allow coaches operating on the junior pathway to pick up valuable tips that will enable them to play a part in this.”
