It was mixed fortunes for the Ospreylian colleges yesterday with a win, a draw and a loss.
Bridgend College were the victors in their clash with last year’s national college champions, Coleg Gwent, in Pencoed. Josh White won the game for his team with the last kick of the game to make it 9-7 to the home team.
Coleg Gwent bagged themselves a try early on but the Bridgend students tackled hard to withstand their continuous pressure. Captain, Tom Bluck, reduced the deficit to a single point as the game drew to a close before White got the all-important three-pointer to give Bridgend the victory.
Neath Port Talbot College shared the spoils with Coleg Morgannwg as they drew 12-12 at Mountain Ash RFC. Adam Beard and Joe Thomas grabbed the tries for their team but the teams couldn’t be separated when the final whistle sounded. Luke Price had one conversion.
Gower College were unable to prevent an impressive Llandovery College team winning 29-12 at St Helens. In front of the S4C cameras, Gower found themselves 29-0 down with a quarter of the match to play. Connor Edgecumbe came off the bench to score a brace of tries but it was all in vain as Llandovery secured the victory.
