College Rugby round-up

A fine kicking display from Liam Popham helped Gower College Swansea on their way to a 19-11 victory over Bridgend College in the Ospreylian derby at Vardre RFC yesterday.

Popham slotted two penalties in the first half to set his team on the way and doubled his penalty count in the second half, along with adding a conversion.

A series of sin-binnings and red cards kept team’s reduced to thirteen and fourteen players as tempers spilled over in the match. Harrison Walsh crossed to score a five pointer for the victors and Scott Govan grabbed a consolation try for Bridgend.

Neath Port Talbot College will blame a late lapse in concentration for their 28-3 loss to Llandovery College at Llandarcy yesterday.

Llandovery touched down three times in the last quarter to claim victory and climb further ahead of their opponents in the Colleges League table.

The match was tightly fought until Llandovery ran away with it as the game drew to a close.
