College Rugby round-up

Bridgend College can thank a dominant first half performance for their 27-10 win over Ospreylian rivals, Neath Port Talbot at Pencoed yesterday.

A bonus-point was already secured by Bridgend before the half time whistle had sounded. Geraint Watkin, Sam Grant, Ed Howley and the skipper, Tom Bluck all crossed the whitewash. Josh White added seven points from the kicking tee.

The Bridgend team looked completely different from the one that had lost 55-13 to Neath Port Talbot earlier in the season. Ill-discipline from the home team meant the game lost its continuity and Bridgend lost their momentum.

This provided Neath Port Talbot with an opportunity to get back into the match and they added ten points. It wasn’t enough and Bridgend held out for a big victory.

Gower College Swansea fell to a 27-10 loss at the hands of Coleg Gwent at Pontypool  Park yesterday afternoon.

First half tries from hooker, Chris Forshaw and winger, Tom Dew kept the depleted Gower team within three points of their opponents at the break.

Coleg Gwent went on to claim two converted tries in the second half with no response from the visitors to win the game.
