Ospreys and Scarlets fans are being given the opportunity to pick up tickets for next week’s crunch Celtic League derby clash whilst doing their weekly shop thanks to an agreement with sponsors Asda.

With a large crowd anticipated for next Tuesday’s game at Liberty Stadium (18th April), tickets will be on sale alongside the cornflakes, eggs and milk in the supermarket aisles on Friday and Saturday (14th & 15th April) at Asda’s Swansea and Llanelli stores, between 9.00am and 5.00pm.

Staff at the two stores will be assisted by British Lions, Wales and Ospreys stars Brent Cockbain and Ryan Jones who will be on hand to sell tickets, pose for photographs and sign autographs. Ryan will be in Swansea on Friday and Llanelli the following day, between 12.00noon and 2.00pm, whilst Brent will visit Llanelli on Friday before heading to the Swansea store on Saturday, timings to coincide.

Paul Thorburn, Strategic Development Manager, Ospreys, commented:

“An Ospreys V Scarlets clash is always eagerly anticipated with local pride at stake and we are expecting a substantial crowd for the game. With this in mind, we have spoken to our sponsors Asda to find a way to make it easier for fans to get their hands on tickets, and thanks to Asda, instead of having to make a special trip to Liberty Stadium ticket office, supporters of both the Ospreys and the Scarlets can now just pick up their tickets whilst doing the weekly shop, which makes it much more convenient.

“This is an exciting development for the Ospreys as it is the first time that we have made tickets available to our supporters in the retail marketplace, and is another example of the way in which we are prepared to be innovative in the way we promote ourselves throughout the region. We are extremely grateful to Asda for their support in this venture, which is indicative of the excellent working relationship both parties enjoy.”
