Challenge Cup Round 2 preview

Round 2 of the European Rugby Challenge Cup sees the Ospreys travel to face Worcester Warriors at Sixways on Saturday afternoon (3.00pm KO).

Both teams won their opening games with a bonus point last weekend, the Ospreys defeating Pau at the Liberty Stadium, 27-0, while Worcester beat Stade Francais in Paris, 38-27.

  • Worcester and Ospreys have never met in European competition before. Warriors only previous Challenge Cup games against Welsh opponents were in 2016/17 when they played the Dragons, registering a home win and an away defeat
  • Worcester are unbeaten in five home games (W4 D1), scoring exactly four tries in each of their three games at Sixways last season
  • Worcester’s win at Stade Jean Bouin last weekend was their first victory in France for over 10 years
  • Ospreys missed just five tackles in the process of keeping Pau scoreless, giving them a tackle success rate of 96 per cent, the best in Round 1
  • Ospreys 27-0 win over Pau was the second time they have held the opposition scoreless in European competition, the previous being a 45-0 win v Newcastle in October 2016
