Comment from Regional Rugby Manager, Derwyn Jones:
"Adrian was a firm part of our plans for next season and we are hugely disappointed that he has had to retire. He has made a worthy contribution to the Ospreys since joining at the start of this season although it is sad that we only saw glimpses of what he had to offer. He gave us security under the high ball and a reliable kicking option and these were to the fore in our wins over Glasgow and Ulster away from home"
"Although this is a massive loss to the Ospreys Region and rugby in general we should celebrate what has been an excellent career. It has been a pleasure for our coaches and players to work with a professional of his calibre and we wish him well in his life outside of being a professional rugby player"
Commenting on his retirement, Adrian Cashmore:
"I am delighted to have played a part in the development of Ospreys Rugby and my family and I have enjoyed our time living in South Wales. I am devastated that I will not be part of the strong squad the Ospreys have assembled for next season. However, I must think of myself and my future and the risks involved with this injury mean that it is with a heavy heart that I have decided to return to New Zealand. I have a young child and I need to ensure that I can play a full part in his upbringing"
