Despite an improved performance, Bridgend couldn't find their way through the powerful Sir Gar defence
With visitors Coleg Sir Gar scoring 130 points and concedingjust 30 over their last two games, it was always going to be a tough afternoon for Bridgend and while they were unable to find the try line themselves an improved defensive effort kept out many attacks from the West Wales college.
Coleg Sir Gar got off to a strong start at Pencoed but with both sides hearing the referees whistle in the first few minutes it took them almost 10 minutes to get over the line for a converted try.
Bridgend College soon settled into the game but struggled to make progress against the powerful Sir Gar back line. When they did eventually get a bit of momentum going and broke into their opponents 22 they were swiftly penalised for holding on.
While Sir Gar didn't look overly dangerous in their own half once they got territory and possession together they started to look unstoppable. An infringement by Bridgend gave the visitors a line out inside their 22 and with the Sir Gar pack facing just one defender they easily rolled over for their second converted try.
Bridgend continued to struggle to find a gap in Sir Gar's defence and when they did slip through discipline and handling errors spoilt their chances, an almost certain try went begging with a knock on over the line in the final minutes of the first half.

After a fight broke out at the end of the first half, both teams started the second minus their full compliment with two Bridgend and one Coleg Sir Gar player still in the sin bin. Despite being a man down on their opponents Bridgend managed some impressive defending in the opening minutes. Sir Gar pounded the try line and despite the home team being penalised twice they held out the attack, eventually clearing out the danger by stealing a Sir Gar line out on their 5m line.
Bridgend continued to try and test their visitors defensive efforts, Garin Loughor with two impressive runs, but they just couldn't make their way through the powerful Sir Gar team. The visitors had a slightly easier time of things, despite a huge effort from Bridgend College to keep them out, they eventually slipped through for a unconverted try in the dying minutes.
