Bishop and Jones hand Ospreys a fitness boost

Adam Jones will move a step closer to a return to playing this week as he steps up his rehab with the Ospreys medical team, whilst team-mate Andrew Bishop is ready to make his comeback at the weekend if selected.

Jones has been sidelined with an elbow ligament problem since mid January, when he was forced off during the Heineken Cup defeat to London Irish at the Madejski Stadium, but Head Physio Chris Towers confirmed today that Lions prop is now in a position to increase his workload with the medical and conditioning teams:

“Adam is five weeks post injury now, and the problem has settled down well. We are starting to increase his functionality during rehab this week, after which we will be in a position to target a game for his return to action"

Meanwhile, centre Andrew Bishop has completed his recovery from ankle ligament damage suffered in the New Year’s Eve Welsh derby against Cardiff Blues at the Cardiff City Stadium. Towers confirmed:

“Andrew has done really well in his rehab and has returned to full training this week, meaning he is available for selection for Sunday’s game against Connacht.”
