Beck visits Bryncoch festival

Ospreys centre Ashley Beck attended the Bryncoch RFC Junior Rugby Festival over the Easter Holiday period, where he spent the day mingling with more than 150 local children.

16 teams participated in the festival from Morriston, Pontardawe, Skewen, Taibach, Tonmawr, Tonna and hosts Bryncoch. Children aged between 7-11 competed in a fun, relaxed environment, with each one receiving a medal from Beck to mark the event, which was supported by Afan Nedd Development Officer Andrew Thomas and the Ospreys Community Rugby Department.

Beck, who celebrated his 21st birthday earlier this month, holds the record as the youngest player ever to feature in the Magners League after making his Ospreys debut against Leinster at the Liberty Stadium aged 17years and 222 days. The 2010/11 season has seen him establish himself as a part of the senior Ospreys squad, with 14 appearances (13 starts) to his credit during the current campaign.

He said that it had been a great day for everyone concerned:

“I really enjoyed spending the day at Bryncoch RFC, it was perfect for a rugby festival like this. It was great to see so many youngsters and their families enjoying themselves, particularly my old club Tonmawr. I can remember when I was their age, playing at festivals like this, so I was glad to be a part of the occasion and spend some time watching the rugby.”
