Neath Port Talbot Physical Activity & Sport Service (PASS) & the City & County of Swanseas  Park Sport & Health sections have teamed up to provide alternative training for sports clubs.

The City of Swansea gymnastic centre based in Fforestfach  Swansea has recently played host to the next generation of sports stars. Derek Jones Neath Port Talbot Council’s PASS development officer said last year Afan Nedd district junior rugby squads and the Aberavon Surf lifesaving club were put through their paces by the City and County of Swansea’s high performance gymnastic coach Chris Jones . The training consisted of a programme of flexibility, body conditioning, balance and general stamina training. Recently the under 21 Osprey academy have started an 8 week pre season training under the direction of Chris at the gymnastic centre. Osprey academy manager Gethin Watts said “ This short course of training has benefited our players immensely it is great to see how alternative training from other sports can complement the work we do and it is great for us as Ospreys to work with other governing bodies of sport”. Chris Jones said it is important for all athletes to realise the importance of flexibility and physical preparation to enhance the specific training of each individual sport.
