2 out of 3 for colleges

It was two wins and a loss for our Ospreylian college teams yesterday afternoon.

Gower College Swansea sealed their first victory of the season when they swept aside the challenge of Coleg Morgannwg at Mountain Ash. At the fourth time of asking, Gower secured a 21-15 win, scoring three tries on the way.

Prop Harrison Walsh and centre, Tom Dew, crossed the whitewash in the first half to give Gower the lead at half time. The scoring was complete when hooker, Chris Forshaw, grabbed a try of his own. Liam Popham converted all three tries.

Neath Port Talbot thumped Pembroke College 76-10 at Llandarcy, scoring a massive total of 12 tries in the process. Luke Price, Dafydd Howells, Calvin Wellington and Lewis Evans picked up a brace of tries each. The other scores came from Joe Davies, Oliver Thompson, Jack Anderson and Jordan Collier.

As well as his two tries, young Eyasses fly-half, Price, slotted seven conversions and was highly influential in the team’s high quality performance.

Bridgend College were the unlucky losers against Llandovery College as they failed to score a single point in the 31-0 defeat. Bridgend found themselves trailing within the first two minutes as Llandovery scored a converted try.

The visitors were 21-0 down at half-time with it all to do. Bridgend continued to create opportunities but could not find the cutting edge to cross the tryline. Cameron O’Sullivan was a tireless worker for Bridgend, in attack and defence, but could not prevent his side losing the game 31-0.
