14-man Ospreys lose to Dragons

Despite a strong start from the Ospreys, a red card meant that the Dragons were able to come away with the win at Rodney Parade.

TRY FOR OSPREYS! The Ospreys with a solid scrum early on that opened up a good running lane  in the first phase for Owen Watkin. Reuben breaks through and places a smart kick for Proth to finish with ease. Conversion missed, 5-0. Great start from the boys.

Despite the early Ospreys score, the game remained close for the first 20 minutes with both sides getting into opposition territory, but with nothing to show for it.

As we passed the 20 minute mark, Ospreys worked a smart chance from the line out that allowed Dewi Lake to break down the sideline but a recovering Dragons defender managed to force him into touch.

Dragons were next to get points on the board though as Cai Evans was able to knock the ball over for three points. 5-3 Ospreys as we hit the 25 minute mark.

Red card for Proth. Ospreys went down to 14 with 12 minutes left of the first half to go.

Dragons made instant use of the extra man, with Cai Evans kicking over for three after some extended pressure on the Ospreys line. 6-5 Dragons.

Try for Dragons. A set play from the line out paves the way for Bradley Roberts to score. Evans converts, 13-5 to the home team.

The Dragons put the pressure on early in the second half, but a big defensive stop on the rolling maul won the boys a scrum near their own line.

The home team continued to turn the screw in the second half, using the man advantage to control territory and possession. Despite that, the boys were still giving it their all in defence, a lot of tired faces that were covering every blade of grass.

With 20 minutes to go, Ospreys went down to 13 as Luke Morgan was deemed to have tip-tackled Rio Dyer.

Despite having a two-man disadvantage, the Ospreys were holding strong against the Dragons.

The boys could only hold on for so long though. With 15 minutes remaining, Rio Dyer went over for the score following a well worked move. Evans converted, 20-5 to the Dragons.
