Women and Girls

In Partnership with the Welsh Rugby Union and local Clubs we have set up Rugby Cluster Centres for young girls across the region to kick-start their rugby union. The hubs offer fun and friendly rugby opportunities for girls aged 6 to 18, and in some cases rugby-based fitness activities for adult women. In the Ospreys region, the Hawks were set up with four female hubs across the region.

The aim of these hubs is to give girls the opportunity to explore all the fantastic options that rugby has to offer including, Tag, Touch, and contact rugby in a girls only environment. There is also opportunities to play in rugby festivals with competition elements supporting their development.

The centres are based predominantly out of rugby club sites and will have their own unique identity to encourage as many girls to take part in rugby and ensure that consolidated numbers attend to give the girls the best experience possible. Thousands of girls are already participating regularly in a variety of fun-based rugby formats at the community-based Hubs but we know more women and girls are keen to be part of the rugby family – be it as players, coaches, referees or volunteers.

Increased participation in rugby via the Female Hubs has clear, positive health benefits for women and girls, but even more encouraging is that the environments the Hubs are building are fostering life-long friendships for the whole family.

Find your nearest Hub in Ospreylia and take a friend along to see for yourselves.
