Ospreys reveal 2012/13 away jersey

The Ospreys are delighted to unveil the 2012/13 away jersey ahead of today's launch event at the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea where the wraps will finally come off the new home shirt.

This year’s change strip is predominantly white with black trim, with this year’s feature colour of lime green on the sleeves and flashing across the chest.

Once again, the Kooga manufactured jersey carries the RWE npower renewables logo across the chest, the eighth season of regional rugby’s longest running sponsorship deal.

In addition to RWE, long-term partners Jewson, Cuddy Group, Maximuscle, Worthington’s and Persimmon also feature on the jersey, along with Tesco, South Wales Evening Post, Education Staffing Services and Peter Lynn & Partners Solicitors, who all appear on the jersey for the first time.

The new look away shirt with the inclusion of lime green signifies the freshness of the start of a new season, and is expected to prove a big hit with fans young and old, allowing the Ospreys jersey to maintain its position as one of northern hemisphere club and regional rugby’s biggest sellers.

Ospreys Managing Director, Roger Blyth, said:

“The combination of the strong Ospreys brand and Kooga’s adventurous kit designs means that the unveiling of a new jersey is always eagerly awaited and I’m delighted to say that as always, this year we haven’t disappointed. It’s an eye catching jersey which I’ve no doubt will prove as popular as ever.

“The 2012/13 away jersey is fresh, colourful and exciting, and is certainly befitting of an organisation that has a real buzz about it at the moment following the way the team secured the PRO12 title in May and with almost 9,000 members confirmed for the new season.

“Today’s launch event will see the wraps coming off our home jersey in front of hundreds of fans at the National Waterfont museum, and with performances from local young talent including Shaheen Jafargholi it is going to be a special occasion to kick-start 2012/13. Fans are in for a real treat at the launch, and when they see the new home jersey I’m convinced they’ll be in agreement that it’s our best yet.”

The Ospreys will wear the new white, black and lime green jersey for the first time in Saturday’s pre-season game against Bath at the Liberty Stadium (KO 3.00pm), keeping the home jersey for the new PRO12 campaign.

Andrew Peters, Managing Director of Kooga Rugby Ltd, said:

“As always Kooga are delighted to be the Kit Partners for Ospreys. We feel very fortunate that the region are so keen to be directional and new in what they choose for the kit each year, as it makes for kit designs which are inspirational. We believe that Kooga and Ospreys are excellent partners together, and we hope that the alliance continues for a long time. We are as our tagline says, Brothers in Arms.”

Priced at £39.99 for children and £49.99 for adults, the new 2012/13 away jersey is on sale from the Ospreys Club Shop at the Liberty Stadium and online from 10am today and at the launch event at the National Waterfront Museum from 11am, with the new home jersey going on sale later today following its public unveiling.

ABOUT THE 2012-13 OSPREYS AWAY JERSEY

Over the last few seasons Kooga and Ospreys have led the market ahead of other professional clubs by selecting a directional and signature colour/ trend and story for the season. The trend is then utilised to inspire both the kit design. This season the trend identified by the Kooga team was ‘wild craft’ and the power of the earth focusing in on the phenomenon of aurora borealis (northern lights).

The signature colour is lime green. Lime green represents the following : possibilities, anticipation, excitement, motivation, growth and luck. Lime encourages us to try new things by initiating change…

This theme runs through the whole Ospreys apparel package for the season.

In terms of technology the 2012 Ospreys playing jersey offers the very latest in cutting edge kit design. The new 'smoother feel' construction and fabric have improved anti-static which enhances comfort during performance in the liquid pro players shirts.

Liquid pro offers the very best in terms of moisture transportation; It's hydrophilic properties draw moisture away from the skin forcing it onto the garment outer where it evaporates, which allows the body core temperature to remain balanced and perform at its optimum level.

The tight compressive fit of the shirt reduces muscle oscillation during movement, which in turn increases the efficient power output. The compression also enhances blood flow, stimulating the supply of oxygen to critical muscle groups, which in turn promotes less lactic acid damage.

The supporters replica shirt which is available to buy has a looser more relaxed cut and features Evaporex II, the next generation of Kooga's revolutionary Evaporex fabric. Re-engineered from stitch construction to ensure a new cutting edge model of performance, handle and comfort and featuring a polyester thermo regulating mix to wick perspiration away from the skin to create ideal body climate, providing an unsurpassed degree of function, fit and wearability.

By purchasing the new Ospreys Replica Shirt you are benefiting from some of the technological advances available to elite rugby athletes. Kooga and the Ospreys, balancing tradition with technical innovation for the discerning player and supporter. Rugby makes extreme demands on product, so everything we do is 'extremely designed' .
