Ospreys in the Community are delighted to continue their partnership with SONY UK Technology Centre to bring their successful Schools Programme into children’s homes.
The Ospreys Schools Programme supports the education aims of the foundation. Originally launched back in 2012, the groundbreaking initiative has undergone a radical overhaul over the years and has now adapted to be delivered remotely.
In previous years, word has spread throughout the education community in Ospreylia about the benefits of participating in the programme leading to places on the programme being snapped up instantly. But now, we’re able to extend our offer to all schools in the Ospreys region to key stage 2 pupils.
Under normal circumstances, pupils on the programme are treated to an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Swansea.Com Stadium and taken on workshops at SONY UK technology centre in Pencoed. Nevertheless, we can bring the thrill of being in the stadium direct to your pupils’ homes with our virtual tour along with an interactive visit to Sony’s factory to see the latest technology as it’s built.
We understand the difficulties schools are currently facing due to the Coronavirus outbreak and operating with stretched resources. Covering the new curriculum areas, we’ve ensured Literacy, Numeracy and Digital competences are at the heart of the programme. The initiative is not something extra that has to be delivered by teachers or schools but can fit in to your current topics and termly plans.
The programme’s key objective is to help the Ospreys deliver an effective and inclusive education programme. This programme is non gender specific, fully inclusive and extremely innovative. The key areas of the programme are focused around –
Module 1 – Swansea.com Stadium Tour
Focusing on – Numeracy, fact-finding, listening and literacy.
Module 2 - Sony Tour and Sony quiz
Focusing on – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths
Module 3 – Wellbeing
Focusing on- Physical Activity, Nutrition, Health and Wellbeing.
