The Ospreys today announced that Matthew Jones was to be loaned to English National League One side Moseley for six months from 1st August 2007 to 31st January 2008.

The English side have close links to Guinness Premiership side Gloucester under an agreement whereby all of Gloucester's England Academy players are dual registered. The agreement enables players to be loaned between the two clubs as circumstances and individual playing pathways require. At the start of each week Matthew will train professionally with Gloucester and will have a chance to impress Dean Ryan and possibly gain Premiership experience

Matthew Jones gained his first Wales Cap against Canada in June 2005. Now at only 23 years old his future is looking positive. Mathew is a dedicated and conscientious player and he will undoubtedly give this new challenge his all.

Comment from Director of Rugby, Kevin Hopkins:

"The benefit of this arrangement to both Matthew and the Ospreys is that he will be within a fully professional environment and will play rugby each weekend, either with Moseley, or with Gloucester should he make a suitable impression on Dean Ryan. Matthew is a player with huge ability and potential but at this stage in his career he needs to play at the highest possible level and we feel this arrangement fits the bill."

Matthew Jones commented on the loan:

"€œThis gives me the opportunity to continue my development by training with Gloucester RFC, which will hopefully give me the prospect of Guinness Premiership experience. Although I am leaving the boys for a period of time, I recognize that I need game time and this arrangement with Moseley offers me that. "€œ
