Please see an update below regarding the bus service we're offering on a trial basis for the first 6 fixtures of our season...
PLEASE VIEW OUR OTHER ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THIS SERVICE (POSTED ON THE FRONT PAGE OF OUR WEBSITE) - FOLLOW LINK HERE Please note that, due to some minor teething problems with this service, we've made some alterations to the attached schedule. Please be sure that you're familiar with the changes prior to using the service In essence, due to the popularity of the service in the Neath/Port Talbot area, we've decided to use the Pencoed service to collect supporters traveling from Port Talbot / Baggle Brook. The reason for this is two-fold - first, it will ensure there's more room for passengers traveling from Neath & Skewen (some of whom [those waiting in Skewen] were not able to use the service on our last fixture as the bus was already full); second, it will offer those traveling from Port Talbot / Baggle Brook a speedier service, and also a later collection time. Please see the schedule for more detail. Please also note, as there was some confusion for our last fixture, that the coach will collect passengers at Port Talbot RAILWAY station from now on. Our apologies to those who missed the bus to our last match due to this misunderstanding. ORIGINAL ANNOUNCEMENT Ospreys bosses have today revealed details of a new match-day bus service that will operate throughout the region this season.
The Ospreys have teamed up with transport company First Cymru to operate the service, which will be trialled over the first six games of the new campaign, starting with the visit of Leicester Tigers on Saturday afternoon (August 23rd) for Shane Williams testimonial match. The service will run from all corners of the region with pick up points available from key points along the main arterial routes within Ospreylia, stretching out as far as Port Talbot, Gowerton, Abercrave, Oystermouth and Pencoed. The price of a return to the Liberty Stadium will cost between £3.15 and £5.00 per adult, depending on collection point, with a child ticket priced just £2.40.
Roger Blyth, Ospreys Managing Director, said:
"Feedback from our supporters regularly highlights transport to and from the stadium as a potential headache for many people on match-day, and we are always looking at ways in that we can help to make it easier. We are delighted to be able to team up with First Cymru to offer a cost effective bus service that will give fans across the region the option of being picked up locally and taken direct to the stadium without the need to swap buses, then returned home safely after the match.
By providing cheap alternative transport, we hope to encourage supporters, particularly those who previously may have had difficulty getting to the Liberty Stadium, to come to as many matches possible, and enjoy top flight rugby. Initially the service will operate on a trial basis for just the first six matches, so I would encourage fans to take advantage of the service over the coming weeks, with it's value for money fares. If the service is a hit with fans then we will look to expand it over the season and maybe even look to offer additional routes."
Simon Davies, Coaching Manager of First Cymru:
"We have worked closely with the Ospreys over the summer to schedule a new match-day service that will enable supporters from right across the region to get to the Liberty Stadium. The service will provide a convenient, low cost option for fans that will make getting to Ospreys matches easier than ever and we are confident that the demand is there from supporters.
Whether you are travelling from east, west or north of the Liberty Stadium, there is now a direct and hassle free service that will get you to the game with the minimum fuss. I'm sure that it's going to be another memorable season for the Ospreys, and if First Cymru can play a small part in making it the most enjoyable yet for all Ospreys supporters then we are delighted to help!"
The attached timetable (recently updated, and soon to be re-attached) is for the first 6 Ospreys home games of the 2008-9 season and includes details of all pick up points along with times to & from the stadium.
Tickets are available to purchase on a first-come, first-serve basis from the coach driver on the day (space limited to 49 seats).
