Alun Wyn Jones has committed his long-term future to the Ospreys and Wales after re-signing his National Dual Contract (NDC).
- Jones is the third Osprey to re-sign an NDC after Dan Biggar and Rhys Webb
- Sits third in all-time appearance list for the Ospreys on 197 and his 18 tries puts him joint second highest forward in the try scoring list
- Bonymaen RFC product has played 100 Test matches (94 for Wales, 6 for Lions)
- Jones "grateful to everybody involved for giving me the time to make the correct decision for myself, my family and my career"
Alun Wyn Jones has committed his long-term future to the Ospreys and Wales after re-signing his National Dual Contract (NDC).
The 30-year-old second row has been capped 94 times by Wales (plus six international caps for the British and Irish Lions) and is third in the all-time list for his region with 197 appearances to date (18 tries).
Having come through the development pathway at the Ospreys he is already in his 11th season with his home-town region, and his signature on a long-term contract is another important milestone.
Speaking after signing his new contract, Jones said:
“I’m very happy to be in a position to sign an NDC to continue playing in Wales for the Ospreys. I’m grateful to everybody involved for giving me the time to make the correct decision for myself, my family and my career.
“With my future now sorted I can continue to represent the Ospreys, my home Region, and put myself in contention for selection for Wales.”
The Group Chief Executive of the WRU, Martyn Phillips, said:
“Huge credit must go to the Ospreys for securing Alun Wyn for the next chapter of his career with Region. I'm convinced that their strong purpose, vision and ambition for the Region motivated Alun Wyn to stay rather than pursue other options that he may have had.
“In my mind he is right up there as a leader, on and off the pitch, in the game globally and its a significant boost to us all in Welsh rugby to see his commitment to the game in this country"

“It’s only natural that someone of his standing in the game would have had significant interest elsewhere but by re-signing his NDC he has shown real belief in what we are trying to achieve here. Along with the news of Dan and Rhys committing their futures to an NDC recently, this is more good news for both region and country.”
